Dr.Zohreh Azimifar

Zohreh Azimifar received her B.A.Sc. from Shiraz University and her PhD from University of Waterloo, in 1994 and 2005, respectively. She was a postdoc fellow at University of Toronto in 2005. Since 2006, she has been a faculty member at Shiraz University’s School of ECE and an Adjunct professor at the University of Waterloo. Her academic, leadership, and community involvements have resulted in multiple awards and recognitions at national and international levels, such as the IEEE WIE award, the London Suffrage Science Women in STEM award, Iran MSRT award in industry relation. Currently, she is the chair of Iran IEEE Women in Engineering.
Zohreh's research interests primarily revolve around machine vision and pattern recognition. She has supervised over 50 graduate students and has written over 120 conference papers, 50 journal papers, and a three-volume book on statistical pattern recognition (in Farsi). She founded Shiraz University's CVPR lab in 2007, the Shiraz University Research Center for Intelligent Vision and Image Processing in 2014, and a knowledge-based company in AI applications in 2016, where she has trained tens of internationally renowned professional engineers.
